Wow! Can you believe it's already the last Meet Our Village Monday of November? I know I say it every month but, goodness, time flies! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are looking forward to all of the holiday goodness that FIT4MOM Grand Rapids has planned. :-)
Today's Meet Our Village Monday is featuring the wonderful Kelsey Helmus! I love that Kelsey became part of FIT4MOM Grand Rapids via our Fit4Baby program. There aren't too many moms out there that found our group through that program (most have joined via Stroller Strides) and I'm excited to see what happens in the future with Fit4Baby! And, without further ado, enjoy learning more about Kelsey today! :-)
How long have you been with FIT4MOM?
I've been with FIT4MOM for 10 months.
In what way(s) have you participated in FIT4MOM (Fit4Baby, Stroller Strides, BodyBack)?
I started out with Fit4Baby and after Bertie was 8 weeks we started Stroller Strides.
Tell us about your family.
My husband's name is Matt and we just celebrated our 2 year anniversary. Our 5 month old daughter's name is Roberta but we call her Bertie. I'm originally from South Bend, Indiana but I've been living in Grand Rapids since my husband and I got married. We are complete opposites but balance each other out well. He's a very smart indoor kind of guy and I'm an outdoorsy country girl lol. Now that we have a 5 month old daughter we are anxious to see who she'll be like! Our daughter is such a sweet and happy girl and it's been such a blast watching her grow.
What is one thing you love about Stroller Strides/Fit4Baby/BodyBack?
I love the supportive community of woman. I realize now how bad I need other mommy friends in my life.
Squats and Ab exercises
What are some things you like to do outside of exercising and being a mom?
I'm obsessed with horses. It's been my passion in life since I was a little girl.
What do you do for work or what did you do before baby?
I've always had jobs training and working with horses but when I moved to GR, I became a nanny. lol
Have you played any sports in the past or what sport would you like to learn?
What is a piece of advice you can pass on to fellow moms?
I feel like I'm not qualified yet to give advice but if I was, I would say go with your instincts! Also don't listen to what everyone else tells you. :)
You are certainly qualified to give advice, Kelsey, and that is absolutely wonderful advice! :-) Thank you for being part of our village. We appreciate you so much!
