Welcome to November! I don't know about you but OBVIOUSLY the most exciting (?) part about this week is happening today and not tomorrow----Meet Our Village Monday! Today we are featuring the fantastic Anne Stevenson! I actually met Anne back in 2004 when we lived on the same floor in college, so it has been a lot of fun reconnecting with her via FIT4MOM Grand Rapids. Enjoy learning more about Anne today!
How long have you been with FIT4MOM and in what way(s) have you participated in FIT4MOM (Fit4Baby, Stroller Strides, BodyBack)?
My first class I tried was Fit4Baby almost exactly 2 years ago when I was in my third trimester pregnant with Jonas! I took some time off after having him and just decided that this fall was a good time to come back to FIT4MOMand try out Stroller Strides.
Tell us about your family.
I've been married to my husband Adam for 8 years and we have three kids - our daughter Penelope who is 5.5, our daughter Imojean who is 3.5, and son Jonas who is 1.5.
What is one thing you love about Stroller Strides/Fit4Baby/BodyBack?
I love the motivation of working out with other moms! So much easier to get a good workout in compared to trying to do it alone at home.
My favorite exercise is walking with my kids!
I love food in general, haha, but if I had to pick a favorite it might be tacos!
What are some things you like to do outside of exercising and being a mom?
Outside of exercising and mothering, I *love* baking. Lately I'm making tons of yeast breads, which I really enjoy, and it sure makes my family and neighbors happy, haha. I also enjoy knitting, sewing, and reading.
What do you do for work or what did you do before baby?
Before I had kids I was a middle school math and science teacher. After that I worked part time in an office for awhile, but now I am home with my kids full time. I'd love to get back into education when my kids are a little older!
Have you played any sports in the past or what sport would you like to learn?
When I was in high school I was on the swim team, soccer team for a couple years, and tried track and field for a year, haha. One sport I wish I could play more often and get good at is golf!
What is a piece of advice you can pass on to fellow moms?
The best mom "advice" I have received and like to pass on is "The days are long, but the years are short." Not really advice, but a good perspective to have! The baby and toddler years are so mentally and physically tiring, but then you blink and you're sending your kids to school full time and wondering how in the world they grew up so fast. So just hang in there on the long exhausting tantrum-filled days, and try to really enjoy the adorable little moments in between, because the years go SO fast!
Thank you for being part of our village, Anne! We appreciate you so much!
