Happy Monday! Hope you all enjoyed the beautiful day yesterday and are looking forward to what looks to be a fantastic week! Today we are featuring the amazing Andi Barber and can't wait for you to get to know her more!
How long have you been with FIT4MOM?
Since about June of this past summer. I attended the Metro Health Stroller Strides kickoff class in May and absolutely loved it. I would have loved to join at that point but the previous week my husband and I had just signed up at the YMCA. Problem was that my daughter could not handle the daycare while I tried to squeeze in a workout. Therefore I joined Stroller Strides after canceling our membership and have never looked back!
In what way(s) have you participated in FIT4MOM (Fit4Baby, Stroller Strides, BodyBack)?
I have done Fit4Baby & Stroller Strides.
Tell us about your family.
My husband Shawn & I met almost 10 years ago now and have been married for 6. After a struggle with fertility we were bless with our daughter Annabel who will be 2 in September. We’re also expecting another girl Sept 30th & cannot wait! Annabel is beyond excited to be a big sister.
What is one thing you love about Stroller Strides/Fit4Baby/BodyBack?
I absolutely love that not only do I now have this great support system of other moms, but that I can focus on my health while my daughter gets to see that it’s such an important part in life. I never grew up with that and my husband and I both strive to change that for our children’s future.
Lunges, they hate me therefore I’ve got to get them done!
Cereal-any kinda honestly.
What are some things you like to do outside of exercising and being a mom?
I love being outside, whether it’s relaxing or doing yard work. Reading, although that tends to be a little more difficult with Annabel running around. The library has become a staple for us :). Also artwork, I dabble in pretty much everything, from sketching to watercolor & oil work.
What do you do for work or what did you do before baby?
I’m mainly a stay at home mom now but I also have a salon within our home that I run Wednesday evenings and Saturdays. I have been doing hair for 10 years now and absolutely love it.
Have you played any sports in the past or what sport would you like to learn?
In the past I’ve played a bit of softball(elementary), swimming(elementary & up) & water polo(high school). I’ve also done a bit of running, which I never thought I would have done but ended up loving it. I can’t wait until after baby to be able to get back into training for 5k’s again.
What is a piece of advice you can pass on to fellow moms?
Live in the now. I struggle slowing down and enjoying the little things. I’m constantly feeling that things need to be done. Yet as I’ve become a mother it’s been so much clearer to me that you have to just enjoy every moment as it comes. You’ll never have that moment again. There’s always tomorrow for chores & cleaning. Love on your child(ren) and help them experience all that’s new. :)
Thank you for being part of our community, Andi! We appreciate you so much!
