Meet Our Village Monday: Allison

It's a new week! Let's start it off right, shall we?? Today we are featuring Allison Petroelje! In addition to having a fabulous first name, Allison is such a fantastic person and I'm excited for you all to learn a bit more about her!

How long have you been with FIT4MOM?

I first came to FIT4MOM on their 6 year anniversary (2015).

In what way(s) have you participated in FIT4MOM (Fit4Baby, Stroller Strides, BodyBack)?

I have participated in Stroller Strides, and I'm currently doing a Fit 4 Baby class.

Tell us about your family.

Brian and I have been married for almost five years. We have a daughter, Sena who will be two in November, and a baby girl on the way (due in December).

What is one thing you love about Stroller Strides/Fit4Baby/BodyBack?

Besides the people, I love how I feel when I leave. I feel like I just accomplished something great, and I have a burst of energy to get through the day.

Favorite exercise?

My favorite exercise would probably be skater strides or squats. Really, anything but burpees! :-)

Favorite food?

I love Indian food, Mexican food, and anything sweet with chocolate and peanut butter!

What are some things you like to do outside of exercising and being a mom?

I enjoy reading, going to my parents cottage and skiing/tubing (when I'm not pregnant), going to Bible Study Fellowship, and spending time with family and friends!

What do you do for work or what did you do before baby?

Prior to Sena, I worked as a Recreation Therapy Coordinator for a Long Term Care and Rehab facility. Now, I work on Tuesdays as a Life Enrichment Specialist that visits elderly in their homes.

Have you played any sports in the past or what sport would you like to learn?

I played volleyball in high school, but it has been a while since I have played! My husband and I became friends and eventually started dating while playing Ultimate frisbee seven years ago.

What is a piece of advice you can pass on to fellow moms?

As far as advice, this has most likely been said, but I need to hear this once in a while. Don't compare yourself to other moms. Every pregnancy is different, every child is different, every circumstance is different, just do your best! Also, enjoy the season you are in, because it goes by fast!

Thank you for being part of our community, Allison! We appreciate you!
